Women and Family Shelter
5100 E. Virginia Beach Blvd.
Leviticus 14: 28-29
The Women and Family Shelter is dedicated solely to the housing and care of single women and women with children. The shelters provide a safe haven every year for hundreds of women suffering from abuse, drug and alcohol addiction, and mental illness.
Residents are provided a safe place to sleep, food, clothing, and counseling. They are assisted with preparing for job interviews, obtaining IDs, birth certificates, benefits and obtaining suitable housing. When long-term housing is found, the ministry provides guests with furniture and household goods to give them a fresh start. Single mothers find comfort in knowing that while they stay at the shelter their children are cared for in a safe and nurturing environment.
| In 2010, women and children were the fastest growing population of homeless in the United States. This influx of families brought the average age of a homeless person down to 9 years old. |
“Bring forth all the tithe of thine increase… and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come and shall eat and be satisfied; that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the work of then hand which thou doest.” |
