05/02/07 - the Union Mission Property is for sale
The Union Mission announced today the 99 year old Brooke Avenue building that houses the Men's and Women's Shelter's is officially for sale. The Mission plans to move it's facilities to the 24 acre property located at 5100 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. (former home of the Virginia Natural Gas Company) by the first quarter of 2008.

2006 marks Executive Director Reverend Ted Bashford's 50th year of ministry with the Union Mission. In those 50 years, and under his leadership, the Union Mission has grown from a small shelter for men in downtown Norfolk to a grouping of services to provide for the poor and needy men, women, and children of South Hampton Roads.
