In 1960, The Union Mission Ministries, under the leadership of Rev. Ted Bashford, purchased a 54 acre farm in rural Virginia Beach. Rev. Bashford had a
Reverend John Gray, the Superintendent of the Union Mission, grew up at Hope Haven.
dream of helping children in need. That dream and more have been fulfilled as Hope Haven houses 4 of the ministries of the Union Mission Ministries

Camp Hope Haven was founded in 1960 as a community outreach for the Union Mission in Norfolk, VA. Each summer the camp provides a free week long overnight camp experience for almost 500 needy children.

Hope Haven Children's Home, founded in 1965, provides a loving Christian home to children ages 2½ to 18 from distressed family situations.

Hope Haven Adult Home was founded in 1967 is an Assisted Living Facility for seniors who have not adequately saved for their retirement and have no family to take them in.

Good News Channel 5, a viewer supported Christian and family oriented television station, films The Good Samaritan Hour on the grounds of Hope Haven.
