After graduating from high school in Maryland, Ken attended Virginia Tech where he received a BS in Sociology. “I went to Tech because it was a military school with the intentions of following my dad's footsteps. But partying and lack of discipline waylaid that plan.” In the middle of his sophomore year during the Vietnam conflict, Ken enlisted in the US Army and was assigned to a special intelligence unit attached to the Joint Chiefs of Staff. It was during this time that Ken was reacquainted with Sarah and they married. Upon graduation from college, Ken took a job with the Marriott Corporation where his supervisor, an ex-marine, led him and Sarah to the Lord. Ken returned to Virginia Tech where he earned a joint MS in Counseling and Administration. He then went to work for Virginia Tech in their Admissions office and later their Alumni and Development office. He has since held development positions at Stetson University College of Law, Flagler College, Guilford College and Regent University School of Law. Ken also spent 7 years as an executive with new technology start-up companies. “That experience taught me first hand that the Lord is the only one that we can count on. Man's plans are at best futile attempts to imitate the Master.” Ken and Sarah have 3 grown children. Ken accepted a position as Development Director of the Union Mission Ministries in January, 2005. Sarah is an artist, an intercessor, active in inner healing ministry and has developed prayer training and programs for churches and ministries. She works for Regent University's School of Law. They live in Portsmouth, Virginia. “As I look back over my life with Christ it is obvious that everything has been in preparation and planning for where I am now. God has placed me where He needs me.” Two of Ken's life scriptures are: “If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established.” Isaiah 7:9 “Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.” Jeremiah 6:16 |
