Aisher

Aisher
went to school in Philadelphia and became a Child Care and Home Health Care Provider. She married at 19 and had four children. They moved to Virginia, but divorced after 17 years. Aisher continued child care and did motel housekeeping, until she got pneumonia, developed lung problems, and began suffering from depression. She realized she needed help.

She applied to a housing program, but had to be referred from a shelter. “I could no longer pay my bills and had to get on my feet again.” She and her children came to the Family Shelter. “It was scary at first, but once I got here, WOW! The staff is wonderful, supportive in everything. There is a sweetness here that you can’t get paid enough for. You can get so down on yourself, but they help you believe you can do what you want to do.”

Aisher is trying to get stability for herself and her children and will soon be eligible for the housing program. “I am where I need to be for now to learn to be a better mother and be there for them emotionally and physically. I am learning how to teach my children to read the Bible and learn about God.”
